The University of Zakho Participated in the First International SQU Chemistry Conference

Dr. Nidhal Sher Mohammed, lecturer at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Zakho, participated in the First International SQU Chemistry Conference, organized by the Department of Chemistry of the College of Science at SQU, Sultanate of Oman, from 10th till 12th of November 2015. The conference was a platform for chemists from all around the world, in order to meet, present and discuss their researches. The theme of the conference was about recent trends in drug development. The conference programme was earmarked for medicinal chemistry, natural products: isolation and identification, total synthesis, novel materials and drug discovery, and drug interaction. Around 160 participants from different parts of the world were attending the conference. The organization and the scientific program of the conference consisted of 23 oral presentations, 50 posters and eight cutting edge plenary lectures. Dr. Nidhal participated in a poster presentation entitled Spectrophotometric Determination of Sulfamethoxazole via Schiffs Base Reaction Using Vanillin Reagent. The conference was a good chance to share the expertises in the field of drug development and identify areas of possible collaboration.
